Portable Heaters Guidelines


This web page outlines the Virginia Statewide Fire Prevention Code (i.e., Fire Prevention Code or SFPC) fire security requirements and prohibitions associated to the operation and storage of portable heating tools in Fairfax County and the towns of Clifton, Herndon, and alpha heater portable Vienna. Portable outdoor gasoline-fired heating appliances shall be outfitted with a tilt or tip-over swap that automatically shuts off the circulate of fuel if the appliance is tilted greater than 15 degrees from the vertical.
