8 April 2011
Large quantities of unlicensed medicines have been taken by Department of Health officials throughout a search of a home in Glengormley.
A man was talked to by department officers about unlawfully importing and subsequently providing unlicensed impotence medications through the internet.
The 47-year-old was also questioned about other medication offenses.
He will now be the topic of a report to the Public Prosecution Service.
The search was performed by the department's Medicines Regulatory Group.
Its senior enforcement office, Peter Moore, said: "It is vital that we get the message throughout that unlicensed medications can be dangerous.
"These types of items being sold, typically online, have actually undergone no quality assurance and there can be no assurance about their security.
"You merely do not understand what you are taking or the conditions these products were made in. More importantly, you do not know the impact drugs like this might have on your health."
