The Band Toto Asia

Toto expanded its production facilities overseas, and doing business in France and Germany, Indonesia, Korea and Taiwan, Thailand and the People's Republic of China. North America was seen as an area of growth for toilets and bidet seats, as opposed its "base" markets in Japan and China.

Dhaniram Toto documented Toto words to ensure that the future generation could be able to read the words. Many words were replaced with foreign ones. For example dui, which is Bengali for verandah, was being used.

Origins

Established in 1917, Toto's early years were a mirror of Japan's economic growth. In the beginning of its existence, the company produced products to meet the demand for modern, contemporary urban housing. To do this, it used the first tunnel kiln in the country to make ceramics in a continuous flow. It also pioneered automation for production control, which helps to increase efficiency and consistency.

The company began expanding its operations overseas in the late 1980s to profit from new markets and sales opportunities. It launched the Cera Trading Company, importing and marketing other products of manufacturers to complement its own lines of plumbing fittings and sanitary earthenware. This strategy helped increase sales and increased the company's market share in the world.

In the 1990s, Toto had shifted its focus on research and development for water-related household appliances. It also improved its distribution system to better meet the needs of customers and boost profits. The company adopted a just-in-time method of managing supply chains, and it used the same method in its sales program. This resulted in a higher degree of customer satisfaction.

Toto continued to innovate toilet technology. The latest toilet, for example it has a strong tornado flush that is more ecologically green than traditional toilets. The first museum of the company was opened in 2015 It has exhibits on Toto's most iconic products and their development, its group companies (all having to do with ceramics), historical background of plumbing and products such as bath units and, in a different gallery, Toto products sold around the world. Before the formation of Toto, members of the group performed sessions for many musicians. Boz Scaggs album Silk Degrees featured keyboardist David Paich and guitarists Mike Porcaro & Steve Lukather, drummer Jeff Porcaro & Steve Lukather. They also performed on albums by Steely Don, Seals and Crofts and Sonny and Cher.

Discography

It is common for a group with a name such as Asia to be a prog rock group, but it is actually a pretty straightforward rock outfit. The group started out as a group and recorded two albums - 1979's self titled debut, and 1980's Armed to the Teeth. The band has a varied musical background, but their biggest success came in 1982 with Toto IV.

The album was a major blockbuster, but it was not without its difficulties. Record companies put the band on position with the order "give us an album that is a success or we'll drop you" and the pressure was on them to deliver. Luckily for Toto they delivered with the assistance of the smash single "Africa."

Toto's musical mastery is a result of their previous experiences. Before forming the group, the band members worked as session musicians for artists such as Boz Scaggs. Steely Dan and Seals and Crofts. Their distinctive sound has become the norm for '80s pop, and has influenced many modern artists.

The album begins with a hefty dose of hard rock with tracks like Running Out of Time and Unknown Soldier showcasing the bands ability to write fantastic AOR songs that slowly get their hooks into your. The album closes with Great Expectations, a song which combines folk and distorted AOR and could sound like a complete flop, but works amazingly well.

After Toto IV the band's fortunes began to wane. David Hungate left to concentrate on his solo career, and the band had to go through various drummers. In 1984, Bobby Kimball was fired from the band in the wake of drug charges and the band continued as a trio with Michael Porcaro and Steve Lukather.

Despite the chaos, Toto forged ahead and released Isolation, which was not as successful as IV. The band managed to release an album that was chart-topping, Kingdom of Desire, in 1992. The album marked the end of the original Toto lineup and was also the first album to feature the new singer, Simon Phillips.

Tours

The band has performed around the world, performing to an audience of millions, with sold-out shows across Europe, North America, Asia, and Australia and New Zealand. The band has a vast collection of songs, and their catalog has been listened to over a billion times on streaming services across the globe. The band's music has influenced multiple generations of fans.

Steve Lukather has forged a colorful, deep friendship with Joe Williams that is flourishing professionally around the world. In 2018, the duo celebrated 40 Tours Around the Sun with a massively successful global tour. The album with the same name debuted at #5 on the Billboard 200. The band's new tour includes their most popular songs and rarely performed live deep cuts, along with some of the songs from Lukather and Williams' individual catalogs.

Line-up

The band's third album, Turn Back, marked an reversion to the classic sextet format of the previous albums. It was a stronger, more consistent effort that had an edge that was stronger than Hydra. The more experimental sound of Turn Back reflected the growth of the band. Bobby Kimball's growing virtuosity was reflected by the vocal delivery of Joseph Williams, who had become more confident and mature. David Paich's work was more refined, sharper and less cloying than previously recorded recordings.

After touring to promote their album, the group recorded an Amsterdam live show which was released on Eagle Records as a 2-CD set entitled Falling In Between. A new studio album was released a few months later, and the band embarked on an extensive world tour in support of it. In this time keyboardist Greg Phillinganes replaced Paich and bassist David Hungate quit the group to spend time with his family.

In 1998, Paich & Lukather began searching through old tapes & demos to discover songs that had never been recorded before. The album was released as a double-album titled Then & Now in 2001. It was the band's first album without one single track titled "A". The album also contained a previously unreleased track titled "Kari-Anne".

By 2003, Toto had begun to decline in popularity. The group's fourth record, Old Is New was not a commercial success and vocalist Williams was suffering from laryngitis, which affected his singing abilities. Hungate also returned to Nashville and Leland Sklar's drumming was replaced by Shem Von Schroeck.

Downes, Wetton Palmer and Howe, the original members of Asia, met in England early in 2006 to discuss the possibility that the group could be reformed. The lineup, which was minus Howe (who was working with Yes at the time) was eventually referred to as Toto XIV and toured extensively.

In 2010, the band reunited for another reunion tour with a slightly different line-up, including guitarists Mike Porcaro and Steve Lukather, drummer John Pierce, bassist Shannon Forrest, and multi-instrumentalists Warren Ham and Dominique Taplin. The band also featured a guest appearance by singer Michael McDonald, and a backing singer named Mabvuto Carpenter.
